Springwell's 12th Grader Program
Why start planning for college in 12th grade?
It's never too late to begin preparing for college. For students who haven't yet considered their plans for undergraduate education, the Senior year is when the panic sets in. Many college applications are due in the fall of Senior year and students have little time to determine which schools are right for them. Students must begin this evaluation right away, and assistance from a knowledgeable source is invaluable at this time so that their newly discovered motivation and dreams do not get lost in this complex, complicated, and competitive process.
For other students, this is the time they experience "senioritis." They can lose interest in the routine of maintaining a steady effort to the completion of their goals. Filling out college applications and closing all of the loops seems like a daunting task and procrastination sometimes predominates. Writing the college admissions essays, gathering letters of recommendations, and following up with the schools of interest can lead to family battles.
What does Springwell do for 12th graders?
Springwell is an invaluable resource for Seniors and parents of Seniors at all stages of the college planning process. Through our college and application counseling, students are given the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to get the tasks done and make the right choices in the time available. Our counselors work individually with students to first identify the right schools; develop a plan for essays, applications, and recommendations; and oversee the process to ensure that the students complete them to the best of their ability. This process also give parents confidence that their 12th grader is on the right track for college.
Of course, Springwell also assists with preparation for SAT's/ACT's, if necessary, as well as ongoing assistance with each student's career planning. This includes identifying opportunities for summer internships or jobs, preparing a resume, and making plans for a path to career success through college. Finally, Springwell's financial aid experts are an invaluable resource to the parents of college-bound students by clarifying the options available and assisting with the many financial aid resources.
